My name is Steve Barber and I am the owner of Midwest Lawn & Sprinkler. I started mowing lawns as a kid with my parent’s lawn mower and a little motivation. I grew up knowing that hard work would always pay off so I set off to see what could be accomplished. I worked my way up and was able to have the opportunity to work for a local baseball complex where I was able to hone my skills in and gets hands on with the knowledge of different grasses and different mowers that can be used. As this was a great opportunity I always saw myself mowing lawns for my neighborhood and getting established enough to have my own business.
I would walk the block with my mower and go door to door just wondering if the homeowner might like my services. I worked my way up and just kept at it. I would walk down to this old man named Mac who worked on lawn mowers every day asking if he had an old lawn mower that I could buy for $40 bucks or less being that I did not have much money, and of course I knew the answer was always “well we don’t have nothing for that price but if I do I will hold it for you”. So I would walk down every day to get the same answer until one day to my surprise he had been fixing up an old mower he had in the back and informed me that he had a mower for me, I was really happy. He allowed me to give him a down payment and take the mower and pay him every week until it was paid.
During my time working for the local baseball complex I was able to further my skills to be knowledgeable in the different fescue and grass. I was able to learn proper mowing techniques on the big riding lawn mowers. I was also able to work on the mowers and sharpen blades, which allows me to work on my own equipment keeping it in tip top shape.
I was able to learn a lot along the road to owning my own business and there were people in my life that helped get me here today. I believe that everyone deserves the best and I pass that knowledge on to my kids, family and workers so that they may give you the same results. Now that I am able to work for so many people and give them great service it gives me joy knowing that my customers are always happy. We will continue to run a family business and keep that great team work that is directly reflected on you yard. We have one goal in mind and that is that the customer is # 1 and we always put them first above our own needs. We are grateful for all the opportunities and the great customers we get to work for and our family enjoys working for your family, Allow us at Midwest Lawn & Sprinkler to give you the service you deserve. – Steve Barber
